July 2010 plays host to the 7th annual David Lynch Memorial Cup in Corduff Park in memory of Corduff native David Lynch who was killed in a hit and run incident. This happened in Blanchardstown village on Easter Sunday night 2003. Fianna Fáil Councillor David McGuinness is delighted to help this event by donating to the club to assist their efforts to raise funds.
This competition brings together numerous teams from throughout Dublin 15 and beyond. Anybody interested in supporting this event should come along this weekend Saturday 24th-Sunday 25th July 2010 or ask your employer to donate to this worthy cause.

As you know, my brother John mcGuinness is P.R.O. of Corduff F.C. and I would be delighted to pass on any details to John of those wishing to help out. See below a letter prepared by John in an attempt to generate support:
Good afternoon
Each year for the last seven years, Corduff FC run a memorial tournament in memory of David Lynch who was killed in a hit and run incident. This happened in Blanchardstown village on Easter Sunday night 2003.
We receive great support for this each year, but, with the financial woes allot of people and businesses are suffering, the club has decided to ask a reasonable and manageable request to organizations and businesses alike, not to mention the local political organizations.
We are seeking €100 donations instead of one single supporter to the running of the competition, but we are not asking individuals but rather their organizations or work places – if at-all possible.
This year’s tournament will consist of 10 adult teams and up to 56 underage teams from across D15 and further afield. The total players on average would hit 700, not to mention the supporters.
The tournament and what it entails is clear but the income from it enables our club to continue as the only voluntary sports club in D15 to not charge registration fees, training fee’s, insurance fee’s before they kick a ball. We only charge a fiver a game to our members who predominantly range from Corduff and Mulhuddart.
I would ask that you consider this request for €100.
Many thanks
John McGuinness
