  • Several thousand new jobs were announced in Dublin in 2010 -including positions at major companies such as Facebook, HP, AOL, eBay and Google. See below.

  • 469 companies in Dublin have been supported under the Employment Subsidy Scheme This scheme helps vulnerable but viable firms retain staff.
  • 74 companies in Dublin have been supported under the Enterprise Stabilisation Fund. This scheme is provides support to companies that that viable but have been affected by current economic conditions.

Recent jobs announcements in Dublin:

55 new jobs in Dublin: IRELAND’S games industry has received a jobs boost with US- owned PopCap Games confirming that it intends to double the number it employs to 110 at its European headquarters in Dublin.The Seattle-based game developer established its European HQ in Dublin in 2005, employing 10 in its start-up phase. The company now employs 55 and senior director Cathy Orr confirmed yesterday that the firm is planning to create an additional 55 jobs at its Dublin office. ( Jan 17th 2011)

30 new jobs in Dublin: Murex, a French financial software firm, has announced 30 new jobs as part of an expansion plan. The jobs will be in software development, business development and consulting. Murex already employs 60 workers in Shelbourne Road in south Dublin. The firm, which established the software centre 11 years ago, expects to fill the new positions within three years. 7 new jobs in Dublin: Seven new jobs are being created in Dublin with the expansion of an international insurance company. Ironshore provides broker-sourced insurance on a global basis through its platforms in the UK, the States, Canada and Bermuda. Ironshore Europe Limited will now be set up in Dawson Street in the city centre. ( January 6th 2011)

155 new jobs in Dublin: An insurance and financial services outsourcing, OSG, has announced that it is to hired  155 financial services professionals over the next three years under a €6 million investment which is supported by Enterprise Ireland. OSG, based in Sandymount, Dublin, is a leading provider of professionally managed service solutions to the insurance and financial services market. The firm, which offers claims management, sales, customer services and consultancy services, employs 245 workers in nine service centres across the country. ( Dec 14th 2010)

100 new jobs in Dublin: More than100 jobs have been created in the grocery retail sector in Dublin following the opening of new stores by Superquinn and Centra. Some 70 positions have been added at Superquinn’s new 13,000sq ft supermarket in Rathgar, which opened this weekend, while the opening of a 6,000sq ft Centra store at the Regency Hotel on the Swords Road has resulted in the initial creation of 40 jobs. 250 new jobs for Dublin and Waterford: A leading global financial services firm Citi has today announced plans to create 250 jobs as it expands its operations in Dublin and Waterford. The new positions, which will come on stream next year, will be in operations, funds, technology and product development. The new jobs are supported by the Government through IDA Ireland

100 new jobs in Dublin: Social Networking giant Facebook plans to create 100 jobs at its Dublin base by next year. Facebook’s Dublin employees work in advertising, multilingual sales support, finances, human resources, user operations and development. It is understood that the new positions will be gradually created across these areas over the coming 12 months. (Dec 7th 2010)

500 jobs: Bookmaker Paddy Power is to create 500 jobs at its Irish operations. Some 375 of the positions will be in the company’s international online business, located in Tallaght, in e-commerce, technology, quantitative research, online marketing and risk management. The new jobs will be filled by December 2013. (November 17th 2010)

60 new jobs in Dublin:Capital Financial Group Ireland is to create 60 jobs in Dublin over the next three years. The firm intends to more than double its workforce, which administers funds worth €1.8 billion. Capita established an operation in Dublin in 2006. ( November 8th 2010)

300 new jobs in Ireland:Consulting and accounting group Ernst & Young says it plans to hire more than 300 workers on the island of Ireland over the next 18 months.It says the move is a response to new business opportunities and in anticipation of the start of an economic recovery in Ireland.Ernst & Young already employs 1,100 people north and south. It says the new jobs will range from graduate positions to qualified accountants and senior executives. 150 graduates will be recruited to start next year, with another 100 new jobs planned for its advisory business. 100 new jobs in Dublin: Online sports betting firm Betfair has announced plans to create up to 100 jobs at a new Dublin office in the Watermark Building in Ringsend, Dublin 4. Betfair, which recently listed on the London Stock Exchange, is to open a new data-centre and relocate some of its customer operations teams to Ireland early next year. ( November 2nd 2010)

105 new jobs in Dublin: Energy company Airtricity is to create 105 new jobs at its Dublin headquarters in Sandyford. The positions will be mainly in customer service as Airtricity looks to expand its reach in the domestic natural gas market. Today’s jobs news brings to 500 the total number of new positions created by the company since entering the domestic energy supply market in July 2009. It created over 200 new jobs, including 100 in Sandyford, in May. (Oct 28th 2010)

40 jobs in Dublin: Start-up HeyStaks Techonologies is to create 40 jobs by the end of 2013

25 new jobs in Dublin: A new mobile phone company Just Mobile is going to create 25 new jobs and plans to create a further 70 within two years ( Oct. 21st 2010)

120 new jobs in Dublin Technology firm Hewlett-Packard is to create up to 120 jobs at its Irish operation. The positions are high-end multilingual roles aimed at graduates, and will be located at its enterprise division in Clonskeagh, Dublin. 50 positions are to be filled immediately. The remaining 70 jobs will depend on whether candidates can be found with the necessary language skills. ( Oct 21st 2010)

100 new jobs in Dublin: Dental care firm Smiles is to create 100 jobs next year as part of a €3 million expansion. The company is to open 10 new clinics around the country next year. The first of its new offices will open for business in Letterkenny in Co Donegal in January. Three of the new clinics planned for next year will be located in Dublin. (Oct. 12th)

100 new jobs in Dublin: Salesforce.com, the leading enterprise cloud computing company, is currently recruiting for more than 100 new jobs in sales, business development, marketing and technical IT and support. The company already employs 300 people at its European Corporate Sales Headquarters in Sandyford, Dublin. ( Oct. 11th)

225 new jobs in Dublin: Dublin Aerospace, which maintains planes, has won a five-year contract with EasyJet at Dublin airport. This means that the relatively young company goes from no employees this time last year, to about 225 over the next six months. (Oct 8th 2010)

75 new jobs in Dublin, Cork, Kilkenny, Limerick and Waterford: Premier recruitment is to hire 75 new staff after saying that there are green shoots in the economy. The new staff will be based largely at the company’s offices in Dublin and Cork, with a number of new positions in Kilkenny, Limerick and Waterford. ( October 7th)

50 jobs in Dublin-Top US provider of commercial information Dun & Bradstreet (D&B),is creating 150 jobs before the end of next year rather than the 100 jobs announced in February.

250 jobs in Dublin-US retail giant Forever 21 will create 250 new jobs in Ireland over the coming months.The retailer is launching its first European outlet on 21 November, located at Dublin’s Jervis Shopping Centre.

180 new jobs in Dublin: Deloitte Ireland is to fill 30 technology consulting positions immediately and plans to recruit at least 150 graduates for its audit, tax, consulting and corporate finance divisions next year.( Sept 9th 2010)

121 jobs in Dublin: Clothes retailer New Look is to create 121 jobs in Dublin with the opening of a new flagship store in the Jervis Street shopping centre.The new jobs, which consist of 110 sales positions and 11 management roles, bring the firm’s Irish headcount to almost 1,000.

20 new jobs in Dublin- AOL Global Operations Limited is to create a further 20 new software engineering jobs at its Dublin Development Centre with immediate effect.  The 20 new jobs are in addition to the 50 software engineering jobs AOL announced in June of this year. ( September 2nd 2010)

200 new jobs - Google is to create 200 new jobs in Ireland immediately, with the establishment of a new Operations Centre in Dublin.  The new centre will work with Google’s popular location based products such as Google Local and Google Maps. Google currently employs 1, 500 people in Dublin. (August 20th 2010)

70 new jobs - ServiceSource, the global leader in technology-based service revenue performance solutions for the high-tech, healthcare and life sciences industries is to expand its EMEA Headquarters in Sandyford, Dublin creating 70 new high skilled positions and bringing total employment at the operation to 380.  (3rd August 2010)

250 new jobs - Kellogs is to expand its European HQ in Swords, Dublin creating 50 high value positions bringing total employment at the Dublin centre to 250.  (30th July 2010)

80 new jobs - the Technology group PFH is to create 80 jobs in Dublin and Cork following its recent purchase of the Irish division of Siemens Enterprise Communications. Twenty-five of the jobs are to be created by the end of the year, with the remainder being created by the middle of 2011. ( July 15th 2010)

784 new jobs nationwide- Tesco Ireland is to invest €113 million to create 784 jobs across the country. (July 14th 2010)

26 new jobs - FCStone, the global financial services firm, is to establish its European Headquarters in Ringsend creating 26 jobs. (June 29th)

100 new jobs - Spencer Stuart, an executive search consultancy firm, is to establish a multi-million euro Global Technology and Knowledge Centre in Dulbin creating 100 high-tech jobs over the next five years. (June  25th 2010)

425 new jobs - Stream Global Services ,a premium business process outsource (BPO) service provider specialising in customer relationship management for Fortune 1000 companies, is to invest €2.5 million in a new dedicated solution centre in Swords, Co Dublin creating 425 multilingual technical support positions within the next 12 months. (July 5th 2010)

33 new jobs - Irish technology services firm Ergo is to create 33 jobs at its Dublin HQ over the next three years. (June 24th 2010).

100 new jobs - DSG International, the group which owns Curry’s and PC World here, is to create 100 new jobs by end of the year nationwide. (June 25th 2010)

14 new jobs - Brown Bag Films in Dublin is to create 14 new jobs after securing a contract with Disney to produce an animated series. (June 25th 2010)

35 new jobs - LinkedIn is to add 35 new finance positions to its international headquarters in Dublin. ( June 25th 2010)

500 new jobs - Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is to create more than 500 new jobs at Terminal Two, which will open in November. This follows the announcement in April that 400 new jobs are to be created in T2.(June 23rd 2010)

140 new jobs - TLC Nursing Home Group is to create a new care centre in Northwood Park in Santry creating 140 jobs. (June 22nd 2010)

50 new jobs - Weedle, an Irish Technology company in Blackrock, is to create 50 new jobs   (June 21st 2010)

40 new jobs - Biotrin, a top medical devices firm in Dublin, is to create 40 new high end jobs ion research and development, manufacturing and marketing.  (June 18th 2010)

120 new jobs - Insurance group Zurich is to create120 jobs before the end of the year at the company’s two European centres the Irish Financial Services Centre, Dublin, and Blackrock, Dublin. ( June 14th 2010)

50 new jobs - AOL Global Operations Ltd announced it was creating create 50 new software engineering jobs at its Dublin development centre over the next two years. (June 7th 2010)

71 new jobs - Eirtech Aviation, an aircraft maintenance firm,  announced it is to create 71 at Dublin Airport over the next three years.( June 3rd 2010)

50 new jobs - Webroot, an internet security firm, is to establish its international headquarters in Dublin creating 50 new jobs over the next 2 years. (May 24th)

75 new jobs - SAP/Business Objects, a business software company, is recruiting 75 additional staff in Dublin brining its total headcount here to 1,000. (May 21st)

100 new jobs - Energy company Airtricity is to create 200 new jobs in sales and customer service over the next year by entering the domestic natural gas market. The jobs will include 100 full-time positions at its headquarters in Sandyford in Dublin and another 100 are being outsourced. ( May 18th 2010)

90 new jobs - Sierra Support Services, a Dublin based firm, said it was creating 90 new jobs after winning a €60 million contract to provide installation, maintenance and testing services of domestic boilers to Bord Gáis Energy. ( April 8th 2010)

400 new jobs - the Dublin Airport Authority is to create 400 full-time jobs when retail units open at Terminal Two at Dublin Airport later this year.  (April 1st 2010)

150 new jobs - eBay, an online auction company, announced it was creating an additional  150 highly skilled jobs to its European Centre of Excellence in Dublin. (March 22nd 2010)

150 new jobs nationwide - Boots, the high street chemist, is to create 150 jobs in five new stores in Ireland. (March 17th 2010)

250 new jobs - McDonalds is to open four new restaurants in Ireland creating 250 jobs by the end of 2010. (March 3rd 2010)

100 new jobs - D&B, formerly known as Dun & Bradstreet, the world’s leading supplier of business information said that it would create 100 high skilled jobs with the establishment of a business operations centre in Dublin. (February 9th 2010)

100 new jobs - Hertz, the car rental company, is to transform its Dublin operations creating up to 100 new jobs. (February 11th 2010)

70 new jobs - Bell Labs, the research division of the French telecommunications company Alcaltel-Lucent, is to expand its Research Centre in Blanchardstown creating more than 70 new high-calibre technology positions over the next five years. (February 4th 2010)

100 new jobs - PayPal, the global online payments company, announced it was creating 100 new jobs in customer service and operations at its European Centre of Excellence in Blanchardstown in Dublin (January 22nd 2010)

103 new jobs - Gala Inc, the Japanese online company is to expand its European Headquarters in Dublin with the creation of 103 new, high-quality jobs. (January 27th 2010)

Government Supported Business Parks in Dublin

There are 10 IDA business parks in Dublin

3 of these have come on stream since 1997.

  • The College Business Park -land was acquired in a joint Fingal County Council agreement in 2004.
  • South County Business Park - land acquired in 1982
  • Swords Business Park - land acquired in 1995.

The other business parks include:

€1.4 million pilot fund to train managers in small firms:

  • The Minister for Enterprise Trade and Innovation announced on September 6th that a new €1.4 million training fund that will help managers improve their workplace skills, ultimately driving productivity in the SME sector.
  • The scheme will see seven regional management development networks being established -including two in Dublin.
  • Skillsnet will decide on the location for these workshops.

It is estimated that improved management capability could be worth between €500 million and €2.5 billion to the national manufacturing sector alone.
