Family and Community Services Resource Centre Programme:

  • The Mountview Resource Centre Ltd in Blanchardstown is one of 107 Centres which are located throughout the country and are funded by the Department of Social and Family Affairs under the Family and Community Services Resource Centre Programme.
  • The aim of this Programme is to combat disadvantage by improving the function of the family unit.
  • The emphasis in the projects is on the involvement of local communities in developing approaches to tackle the problems they face and on creating successful partnerships between the voluntary and statutory agencies in the area concerned.
  • In 2010 the Department for Social Protection awarded almost €5 million to marriage, child and bereavement counselling services in Dublin under the Family Resource Centre.

MABS

  • There are 52 MABS companies operating in 65 locations. They are funded by the Department of Social & Family Affairs.
  • There are 15 MABs in Dublin.
  • Blanchardstown MABS was allocated an additional half post Money Advisor on August 10th 2009

Tús -working in the community

  • The Government has allocated funding to give work to 5,000 people in the community and voluntary sector in the delivery of local services under a new programme called Tús.( announced in Budget 2011).
  • Dublin has been given a preliminary allocation of 1080 placements as well as 54 supervisory positions under the new Tús scheme which provides work for people in the community and voluntary sector.
  • A person must be continuously unemployed for at least 12 months and “signing” on a full-time basis.
  • The rate of payment will be calculated at the maximum rate of underlying Social Welfare payment being received by the participant plus a top up of €20 per week.
  • Participants will work 19½ per week for a maximum duration of 12 months.
