On Sunday 09th May, 2010, Erin Go Bragh of Clonee held a fantastic day of Music, Dancing and Community Spirit at their official opening of their new changing facilities on the grounds of Mary Mother of Hope School. Councillor David McGuinness attended on the day and listened to many local residents and club members about how he can assist Erin Go Bragh and the community generally.
The new facilities were built on Department of Education land and many speakers thanked local Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan T.D. for his assistance in ‘bringing all the relevant sides together to help facilitate this process and finally bring it to fruition.’
The event was attended by the Dublin County Board of the G.A.A. and Mr. Christy Cooney 36th Uachtaran Don Cumann Luthcleas Gael.
Erin Go Bragh President Mr. Ellis Poynton was also on hand on the day. Minister For Finance Brian Lenihan was at a Eurozone Meeting of Finance Ministers on the day but Danny Reilly represented him. This was of particular honour to Danny and the Reilly family as Danny’s Mother was presented with an accolade in honour of her late husband who played for Erin Go Bragh in earlier days.
This was a very positive day for Erin Go Bragh and the wider Casteheany community. David wishes to make a continued commitment to the club, and to the wider community, that he will continue to work with Minister Brian Lenihan to ensure the club secures a more permanent home when is feasible and assistance in any issues that might arise in the months and years ahead.
