Dublin West Achievements
• Health - In 2000 a €96m Capital Development Programme replaced the older buildings on the site of Blanchardstown Hospital, which were spread out over a large area, with a modern facility, utilising a combination of new buildings integrated with substantially upgraded existing ones.
• Sport - The National Aquatic Centre was officially opened on Monday, 10 March, 2003. The cost of the National Aquatic Centre was €62.5 million and the project was delivered on time and within budget.
• Transport - New Docklands Train station opened 3 months ahead of schedule and under budget at a cost of €20 million. The Docklands Station provides15 new Irish Rail scheduled services each way, each day from Docklands to Clonsilla in West Dublin. The new route will service stops at Broombridge, Ashtown, Castleknock, Coolmine and Clonsilla. Journey time from the Docklands to Clonsilla will be 20 minutes.
• Phase 1 of the Navan Rail line from Clonsilla to Dunboyne has been completed. The Dept of Transport allocated grants totalling €43.6 million to Iarnrod Eireann for this project in 2009.
• Education - A large number of new schools have been built including, Castleknock Educate Together, Mary Mother of Hope, Castaheany Educate Together, Scoil Choilm, Diswellstown, Scoil Ghrainne Community, Phibblestown and St.Patrick’s NS, Diswellstown. Correction: Tyrrelstown Educate Together has past all negotiations stages and contruction is due to start in the near future.
• Since 1997 we have invested over €82million in the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown.
• Employment - Several thousand new jobs were announced in Dublin in 2010 -including positions at major companies such as Facebook, HP, AOL, eBay and Google.
• 469 companies in Dublin have been supported under the Employment Subsidy Scheme This scheme helps vulnerable but viable firms retain staff.
• 74 companies in Dublin have been supported under the Enterprise Stabilisation Fund. This scheme is provides support to companies that that viable but have been affected by current economic conditions.
• Justice - The number of Gardai stationed in the Dublin Division has jumped by a third since 1997 to over 4, 200 today.

I was born and raised in Mulhuddart. I went to school locally in St. Patrick’s Junior and Senior National Schools before going on to Riversdale Community College. I graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an Honours Bachelor Degree in Music Education and History.
