Dublin Bus has announced a major overhaul of its services in the Dublin region. This process is due to start in July 2010 and Blanchardstown is to start the process off. Councillor David McGuinness went to the Department of Transport last week to meet with the Minister of Transport Noel Dempsey, Senior Executives of Dublin Bus and the Chairman of CIE. We were presented with the proposals that you can see here and asked to for input in to the process.

More direct city centre routes originating in Ongar, Damastown, and The Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Real time bus information: diagrams on Bus Stops highlighting where your bus is and when it is going to arrive, unique codes on bus stops so you can text to get up-to-date information for the bus stop you are at should no diagram be available and renumbering of routes and changes in their direction so as to make full use of the Quality Bus Corridors that I have been supporting on Fingal County County in places such as Blakestown and Huntstown and all over Dublin 15.

Dicussions will now take place with all vested interests with consultation taking place between politicians, employee representatives, community organisations and Local Council Authorities to name but a few. Full implementation will require reductions in less-used routes and will be facilitated through voluntary redundancies as agreed amongst the relevant parties.

These plans are very much welcomed. Dublin 15 will benefit hugely from a more reliable and quicker bus service. When the new rail line comes on stream from Dunboyne, along Clonee to Barnwell Hansfield at Ongar, public transportation in Dublin 15 will never have been better.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with your views on these proposals. I look forward to hearing from you.

David
