Toys and other items are being stolen for resale from Mulhuddart Graveyard
Councillor David McGuinness has expressed disgust at learning that toys and memorabilia is being stolen from Mulhuddart Graveyard. Listening to a recent edition of RTE’s Liveline with Joe Duffy, Councillor McGuinness learned with horror that items were taken from our local graveyard and apparently being sold at a weekend market not too far from Mulhuddart Graveyard.
David says, ‘Most people have friends and family in Mulhuddart graveyard. It is an important place for people who have their loved ones buried there. This is a shocking reminder of how sick some people can be. ‘
‘Our local community have to be vigilant to anybody attempting to use the graveyard for stealing precious keep-sakes. Also, any attempt by anyone to sell second-hand graveyard products should be avoided and reported,’ says David.
Councillor McGuinness goes on to say ‘Mulhuddart graveyard has been an issue that I have been raising with Fingal County Council due to the litter problem that has been developing there. The general upkeep of the area has been a cause of concern for many residents for some time. I will be raising this issue with our local council in the hope that a reinstatement of a groundsman for the graveyard can be secured. It has been 5 years since anybody has been employed to work here so the excuses of lack of funding or employment embargo is not good enough.’
